WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) works with businesses, individuals and communities to achieve a circular economy through helping them reduce waste, develop sustainable products and use resources in an efficient way.
WRAP was established in 2000 as an independent not-for-profit company and is funded through the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the Northern Ireland Executive, Zero Waste Scotland, the Welsh Government and the European Union.
Vision 4 worked with Sweett Group as a specialist Facilities Management Consultant, working as part of an Associate Group, commissioned by WRAP to research and evaluate the potential of Resource Efficiency in the FM sector.
This primarily involved discussions with industry, with Vision 4 engaging direct with a cross section of both public and private sector organisations, looking at how sustainability was managed and how Resource Efficiency in particular could be applied and what benefits this could bring.
The specific areas of interest that Vision 4 researched were in Hard Services Maintenance for Buildings, covering all aspects of building services, building fabric, specialist equipment and energy management. A parallel study was also undertaken for Furniture covering all aspects of specification, manufacture, design life and recycling.
Following production of an Impact Evaluation Report, a further commission was awarded to re-engage with industry and develop a series of Implementation Plans, looking at how to take Resource Efficiency direct into the participating organisations and how to record and evaluate the resultant benefits.
