The BIM Task Group was established by the UK Government to help to deliver the objectives of the Government Construction Strategy and the requirement to strengthen the public sector capability in BIM implementation.
Their objective is to deliver significant improvement in cost, value and carbon performance through the use of open sharable building asset information. To achieve this involves the development of efficient and collaborative ways of work throughout the design and construction of projects and ongoing facilities management through the asset lifecycle.
Vision 4 was engaged through Department for Business Innovation and Skills to manage and support a programme of implementation of BIM policy and process in UK Central Government Departments.
A key part of this was developing a BIM Strategy Process, managing collaborative engagement across the internal business units within the Departments. It was critical to deliver procedures that are applicable across all phases of the project lifecycle.
This project also involved working with the Departmental Project Managers, Designers and Build Contractors, supporting BIM implementation on the first phase of Early Adopter Projects.
